A Landscape Architect can be used at the onset of a project to layout roads, divide properties and place structures. We can also identify site constraints, focal points and incorporate existing site amenities to provide a cohesive design and great use of space. Along with drawing planting plans, irrigation design and lighting layouts, we can serve as preliminary general contractors when starting a project and will often work in tandem with other disciplines like Architects, Engineers, Real Estate Brokers, Contractors and City Officials.

What is the difference between a landscape designer and a Landscape Architect?  Well, a landscape designer is anybody that has an interest or talent in designing a yard.  A Landscape Architect, however, undergoes rigorous classroom study and testing on numerous comprehensive topics, from grading and drainage to plant identification, to parking specifications and site planning.  Upon completion and acceptance, the State of Oregon grants their license to practice, with continuing education courses required yearly.
